My adaptable skills- Independence - I have worked in a kiosk by myself and been entrusted with and succeeded in keeping it clean and serving each customer to satisfaction.
- Confidence - I am very outgoing and friendly in new situations and I trust myself and can be trusted with carrying out many tasks. This confidence was displayed in a production of 'Moana' that I performed in when I was entrusted with the heavy lifting backstage and taking care of some of the younger cast members. This caretaking of younger cast members not only taught me leadership but also allowed me to develop and strengthen my empathy.
- Communication, creativity, and collaboration - in both my GCSE drama devising piece and my weekly attendance of the ctc academy classes, I have learned and practiced coming up with, sharing ideas and problems with those that I am working with
- Logical and analytical - At my job in the cafe and kiosk, I have been faced with solving several problems at once which has allowed me to showcase my ability to prioritise, organise, and solve these problems in a timely and efficient manner.
- Honesty - If I have a problem I will make sure it is voiced so it can be solved
- Ambition - I like to set high standards for myself so that I can achieve as much as I can at the best level possible.
- Funny - I once got told to do less in a scene due to the fact that I was making the audience laugh too much and the dialogue couldn't be heard
Core skills in performing arts
Musical theatre
As a member of CTC I have performed in a wide variety of musicals:
Oliver! (2019) - role of ensemble
Bugsy Malone (2020) - role of Smolsky
Matilda (2022)- role of Escapologist
Elf (2022) - role of Fake Santa
Moana (2023) - role of Chief Tui
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (2023) - role of Simeon
Frozen (upcoming (2024)) - I have secured the role of King Agnarr
These musicals gave me the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of people, as well as boosting my confidence. The role of ensemble in Oliver (as my first ever musical performance) gave me a chance to get to grips with learning how musical theatre works. With the role of Smolsky being my first spoken role, I developed my confidence, projection, and wonderful teamwork with my good friend Will, with whom I shared all my scenes. After the pandemic, I took on the role of the Escapologist in Matilda, which let me get back into musical theatre and gave me my first chance in helping to guide some of the younger cast members. As a matured performer, Elf allowed me to spread my wings, and make friends, I also had a small fight scene which was great fun in a santa costume. Moana was my first musical in which I had a song with the majority of it sung by me, it helped me to find my voice and develop my singing while again helping out with the younger cast members and moving some of the heavier things backstage. In Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour dreamcoat, I had the opportunity to become part of a unit of brothers, giving input into choreography and being entrusted with the heavy lifting of my best mate Will. I miss him.
At my high school I achieved a grade 7 in my GCSE drama, this was my first time deciding my own full performance and allowed me to write and direct as well as act. I also performed in two of the annual school musicals:
Grease (2022) - role of Leo
Fame (2023) - role of Goody
At the point of Grease I was a fairly confident performer and I was just an ensemble member, however fairly late into rehearsals the person playing Leo had to have an operation and could no longer play the role, the directors cast me in the role as they believed I would be a good fit for a rather menacing character. This gave me the challenge of learning an entirely new role within the span of a few weeks. Fame was a show that I had an incredible amount of fun working on, I helped around backstage with the music stand and got to perform in some truly thrilling numbers.
I have also done a small amount of work experience behind the scenes at the Mercury theatre in Colchester, so far I have only made a prop and helped out the stage manager however I have a few more sessions that I will be attending which will give me the opportunity to broaden my skill set and help me become even more adaptable.
Transferable skills
As a waiter, I have learned the ability to always stay up to date and busy as well as managing my time well. Furthermore it has helped me learn to prioritise my problems in order of what needs doing most.
I have worked in a kiosk by myself and been entrusted with and succeeded in keeping it clean and serving each customer to satisfaction independently.
In my free time I like to write poetry, this is one way in which I express my creativity which can also be expressed in the form of acting.
Having done work experience in stage management and prop design, I am very good at organising things in the wings and backstage as well as sorting out issues with props.
Having worked in a café with several other people, I have learned to work effectively in a team to efficiently carry out the plethora of tasks that must be carried out through the day in order to keep things running smoothly. Furthermore, I can efficiently and effectively work on a rotation and communicate to my co-workers what needs doing if they are unsure.
Acting skills
I am very creative and I enjoy expressing that creativity in all kinds of ways, whether that be making stop-motion videos, writing poetry, or performing, it is always a joy when I am given the opportunity to be creative.
I am a good communicator and will always put in effort to make sure things are running smoothly, I thoroughly check all of my pre-sets before going onstage and will check anything else that I am aware of if possible and appropriate.
Being in musical theatre, I am very experienced in both singing and dancing, having performed in many shows that have helped me enhance and improve my performing skills of acting, dancing, and singing.
I love teamwork and working with other and new people as it is a chance to make new friends and build bonds, it also gives me more insight into the kinds of people I may work with in future.
When I am acting I find it very easy to put myself into the situation and mindset of the character with the use of my empathy, thus allowing me to create a realistic interpretation of the character
Goals
I would like to learn how to cry on command convincingly, I think this is an amazing technique and would tremendously help my career in acting as it would give me the ability to portray emotions in a way that is very difficult for a lot of actors.
I would like to improve both my singing by expanding my vocal range so that I can hit more notes more successfully and sing a wider range of songs at a better level, this would allow me to take on a wider range of musical characters as the tone at which the character sings often correlates with the personality and behaviour of the character.
Areas of strength
My biggest strengths:
I can work well with all kinds of people, something I have learned to do in the variety of shows I have been in, thus making me very effective in helping out and simply just performing.
I am good at creating and becoming complex characters, this is because I can find points of empathy with the characters and align my desires with them so that I can accurately replicate the way in which they would act.

Do you need an actor? Come on, you know you do
“but which one is best for me?”
Me! I have a range including but not limited to a 1950s bully, the chief of an island community, and a grizzled 1920s detective. Not only this, but I am also incredibly charismatic, hey. I am also unbelievably empathetic and outgoing, and I love meeting (and working with) new people. To top it all off: I can sing [insert song here]
